About the Director

Victor Reyes

Principal / Director

Victor has been pursuing and practising the craft of singing for some 20 years on a professional and semi-professional basis. During that time, he has travelled the eastern seaboard of Australia playing to a variety of crowds and honing his craft on the long road trips he has endured.

From the stages of the Sydney Festival and Town Hall, to the clubs and pubs - there is not much of the music industry Victor has not seen, heard or experienced... Yet, whether it be for Parliamentary dignitaries, industry peers or the hoards of music-loving pub/club crowds, he brings the same level of passion and entertainment to every performance making sure his audience goes home tapping their feet…and humming the songs he sings!!

Formally trained in singing in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, Victor applies a combined approach of sound theory and knowledge with a well-honed street savviness when it comes to delivering a performance. It is this mix of practical and theory that makes him one of the more unique singers and singing teachers currently on the scene.

In the early to mid 90s, he was a part of the group who eventually came to be known as LEONARDO’s BRIDE. Signed to Mushroom Records in 1995, they achieved Top 5 status on the Aria Charts in 1997 with the hit single ‘Even When Im Sleeping ‘.

In 2003, Victor established Vocal Chords at the prompting of a long time mentor and friend, offering group classes and individual lessons.

Never wanting to stand still, Victor is in a constant mode of learning and seeks out new knowledge and methods of vocalising and performance. He has built a substantial network of ‘like-minded’ contacts whose love of live music performance equals his.

Victor continues to play an active role in singing as lead singer for a number of Sydney bands.

In 2009, Victor added Tour Management to his skillset road managing Sydney band Town Hall Steps. He has since toured with the likes of Reece Mastin, Simple Plan, Christina Parie and We the Kings on their Australian Tours.

Until September 2011, Victor was manager and principal voice coach for CHRISTINA PARIE - Top 6 Finalist in the 2011 series of X FACTOR shown on the 7 Network Australia. He resumed the Managers role at the end of the Show and continued his duties as an active advisor in her pursuit of a career as a recording artist until July 2012
